About Mel | Counsellor in Moreton Bay

I bring a warm, authentic and compassionate presence to my work, grounded in a trauma-informed, collaborative approach. As a PACFA certified counsellor, my therapy draws on evidence-based modalities including Strengths-Based, Person-Centred, Narrative, and Creative Arts Therapies. I understand that seeking support can take courage, and that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. I meet clients where they are, offering a flexible and individualised service that empowers and supports meaningful change through both counselling and therapeutic processes.

I am an experienced group facilitator and the founder of Hand, Heart & Soul (2008–2014), a community-based women’s group created to foster connection through shared experiences. My early work focused on providing space for women to express, explore, and experience life, thus creating ripples of wellbeing across their families and communities.

My professional experience includes extensive work with those impacted by serious crime, including sexual assault, homicide, and Domestic and Family Violence (DFV). This earlier career work was held within a case management framework and involved crisis counselling, liaison with police and courts, and the preparation of Victim Impact Statements. My experience also extends to working with those impacted by DFV across various settings - from court support and Intensive Family Services to refuges for women and children.

My private practice looks different. While I bring the depth of that previous experience with me, today I focus specifically on counselling. I support women, men and couples navigating trauma, grief, relationships and life’s challenges, with a particular passion for supporting women who have experienced significant trauma and adversity. Through counselling and creative arts processes, I offer space to explore, understand and reconnect with yourself, at your own pace.
